This
seed is coveted by the Mataco (Wichi) Indians in Northern Argentina
for its value in ceremonial snuff preparations. Early Spanish
explorers reported the use of snuffs called "vilca"
among the Incan populations. Peter Stafford writes that A. colubrina
snuffs were essentially of the same psychoactive makeup as cohoha
and epena snuffs.
